Tie Inserter/Extractor
Light but with ample power, the BTE-3000 can extract even the toughest cross switch ties and replace them quickly with ease. With an excellent view of the work area, the operator can change out up to thirty-five or more ties an hour.
The main feature of the BTE-3000 is its portability. The unit can be transported to and from the work site in the back of a conventional pickup truck with an eight foot box. The unit is equipped with carrying handles to enable it to be moved across rough terrain without undue personal injury. It
is equipped with lifting eyes to allow transportation with a crane or similar lifting device. The four wheels on which the unit rides on the track are fully insulated so not to interfere with the track signals. There is no need to do any substrate excavation except for a small area on each side of the tie to allow the grippers to clamp onto the tie. The unit will “bulldoze” the tie though any packed or loose substrate in its way. The new tie can be pulled into the space vacated by the old tie.
